Pity Laura couldn't keep her early impetus going to make it 4 out of 4.
On today's evidence Lisa would be more deserving of the Wimby WCM than Laura; in fact I'd love Lisa to get one as just before her big injury timeout she missed getting one by just one week...she hit the 250 mark one week too late; tennis doesn't deal in poetic justice much though so we'll have to see...
Laura was heavy underdog to win today with the bookies (11/4) and DH was a world class grass court player at her best. She also just qualified for RG on her worst surface.
Hantuchova's recent plummet down the rankings is not due to an injury timeout. She's 33 and that was her first MD win of 2016.
EDIT: Checking the fineprint, it's her first MD win since July 2015. You need to be in shocking form to fall nearly 100 places from a starting position in the top 100.

How much points for a first round win?
Not very generous: just 8 points but Lisa keeps all of those so she should be up to about world #525 on the strength of today's win; and with [jinx alert] a pretty winnable R2 tomorrow

And I do think Laura is getting better, but it is a very slow process. If physical fitness is a real problem that is very disappointing and would reflect badly on her and her team, but it may indeed be, as Tony suggests, have been more mental fatigue or Daniela really upped her level though her level has been relatively poorer for some time.

TaCo have also won their doubles against Laura and Donna Vekic, whilst Emily and Sarah Beth have had a very good win against Alison and Naiktha, the latter seemingly the Yorkshire/ Aussie lass.
With EWS and Sam Murray earlier, that means 2.5 Brit pairs in the QFs.

Just to add to the general congrats: a superb days for the British girls - and for Eastbourne too - always glad for the organisers when they get a nice number of local 'stars' through.
Although this result in itself was not a major surprise re Laura Robson, it's certainly true that her results as a whole have been very poor this year - not a single ray of gold in the whole lot.
But, on a day like today, better to focus on the positives - well done to all the GB winners !!!!!!!!
