SF: (8) Freya Christie WR 352 vs (Q) Sunam Jeong (KOR) WR 885 (CH 856 in Sep 2015)

Another qualifier in the SF. Looks good in theory

It would be but Jeong won QF3 and Freya won QF2, so she gets the top seed in SFs (though I still see Freya as the favourite!)

SF: (8) Freya Christie WR 352 v (1) Han Na-Lae KOR WR 252 (CH 225 last Aug)

This is Freya's third opponent this week who played Harriet last week - Han beat Harriet in last week's final.

Bah, suppose so if you want to go by the boring conventional QF1 vs QF2 etc

Oops, sorry !

I think I remember some tweets from EWS last year to the effect that playing against Korean women in Korea can be difficult, due to official confusion over whether a Korean shot that lands in the tramlines is in or out.

So with 3 Koreans and only 1 Freya left, this could be difficult from here on.

Regardless of the outcome of the SF, another excellent week's progress for Freya to make that big rankings jump in the next list even bigger :D

Great week so far for Freya.

Would be nice to see her lift the title.

who can forget the 1988 Seoul Olympics where Roy Jones Junior, one of the greAtest boxers in history, utterley pulverised and out-boxed his Korean opponent for 9 minutes in the gold medal fight only to be cheated out of Gold. scandalous. the country has a terrible reputation in this regard culturally......

Make that 8 games in a row now though Han has since recovered the early break in the 2nd set - 6-3 4-3*

Yes, 8 in a row, then lost 2, won 2, lost 2...takes us to 6-3, 4-4 and Freya's turn to win 2.

4 game points for Freya in the 11th game of the 2nd set (40-15 and two ad-ins) but then a break point for Han ... saved.

Another bp ... taken. Han will serve for the 2nd set Hope that doesn't prove to be a turning point, especially since the qualifier in the other semi is doing her best to make Indiana's rogue SF happen a round late!

6-3 5-6*

The app keeps flipping between 15-40 and back to 15-30 (repeat ...) ... it now seems to have settled on 2 break back points ... but both are saved
