Week 21 - Futures - Mexico F4 ($10,000) - Morelia (hard)

QR1:  José Antonio Rodríguez (MEX) UNR (CH = 1439 in May 2013) vs Sam Beddow UNR

On the basis of the acceptance list, I was expecting Farris in qualies, but there's no sign of him.  Wonder if he's snuck into the main draw...

... or maybe, given that he is playing his SF today, he as got in as an SE.

Farris gets a special exempt place in Mexico and what looks like (famous last words ...) a gift of a draw:

L32: (SE) Farris Fathi Gosea WR 1217 v (WC) Alejandro Treviño (MEX) UNR

Treviño is 22, never ranked in juniors or seniors and has played three matches on the ITF pro circuit before:

2008 - lost 1 & 0 in R1 here as a wild card aged 14
2009 - lost 1 & 1 in Guadalajara Futures qualifying aged 15
2011 - lost 2 & 2 in R1 here as a wild card aged 17

Edit:  couldn't resist adding the "ñ".  wink

Farris may have been handed "a gift of a draw" in the singles, but he drew the short straw in the doubles! hmm

R1:  (1) Hans Hach & Luís Patiño (MEX/MEX) CR 576 (260+316) vs Farris Gosea & Tim Kopinski (USA) CR 1058 (661+997)  bleh

Watching Farris here. I could beat the lad he's playing which says a lot.

Looks to have been a reasonably competitive match.

I sincerely hope it's nothing serious.
