Great win. She hardly lost a point in the last few games. In fact, only 13 points lost in the 2nd set.

Great to see Gabi getting good wins at 25k level.

And nice photos of her and her mates having fun out there.

NB Still feel that the LTA should just franchise out its operation to Spain.....

Gabi how has a QF opponent, and it is not Anna, who managed to lose both sets from promising positions to her 19 year old fellow Russian opponent. So, to complete:

R2: Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) 478 beat (3) Valeriya STRAKHOVA (UKR) 240 (CH 231 01/02/2016) 6-3 6-2
QF: Gabriella TAYLOR (GBR) 478 vs Veronika KUDERMETOVA (RUS) 405 (CH 282 29/06/2015)

Kudermetova was a top ranked junior (former #22) and she and Gabi have played once as juniors in 2013, Gabi losing on two tie breaks. It should be a good match between them.

First set tie break.

Opponent Kudermetova's JR22 is possibly a little unflattering - she clocked up several defeats to Bencic and Kasatkina, both of whom were happy to play doubles with her.

 Yes, Kudermetova seems a good player, destined to go much higher (as should Gabi). She's a year older too, may be an advantage. But I thought the match would be tight, it is! (And Gabi has now taken an early break in the 2nd.)
