I see Mahut has retired from his singles match today when he was 2 sets down to Granollers. I wonder if that is an injury or just saving himself for the doubles.
A doubles-related but not GB-related question (though he's somewhat GB by adoption). I noticed that Eric Butorac and Scot Lipsky's 1st round match was one of the first doubles matches on. The same has happened with his second round match, which was held this morning. Is this because of his role as President of the Player's Council? I know that the council meets during the Grand Slams, so he must have quite a lot to do - and conjectured that they might be trying to free his time up. Does anyone have a sense of how things operate? At any rate, he's won again ... so no excessive free time for another few days. I'm quite glad actually - always seems like such a decent, sensible sort.

Nooo! Or rather, I hope it's that he's saving himself for the doubles.

He had a MTO for a back problem during the 2nd set of his 1st round singles match, and played on and won comfortably, so I suspect it's a niggle and something he needs to protect but he will probably be ok for doubles.
Melo & Dodig beat the Bryans in the final with Tecau and Roger as semi finalists. The two in best shape as far as the 'in running' points to be WR 1 are Mahut and Murray who are just dropping L16 points ( 180 points ) from last year.
There are 5 potential number 1s post the French Open ( the top 8 being within 2000 points going in 'in running' but Herbert, Rojer and M Bryan can't overtake their partners )
Taking off last year's points :
1. Mahut : 7580 - 180 = 7400
2. Murray : 7535 - 180 = 7355
3. Herbert : 7190 - 180 = 7010
4. Tecau : 7450 - 720 = 6730
5. Rojer : 7290 - 720 = 6570
6. B Bryan : 6870 - 1200 = 5670
7. M Bryan : 6870 - 1200 = 5670
8. Melo : 7590 - 2000 = 5590
Very difficult to say what Jamie needs to do to be #1 post the French Open and / or going into Wimbledon. Theoretically even winning just one round could do it if Mahut lost in R1 and the other contenders fell fairly early. Winning the title would certainly do it !
Let's throw this one into the mix: Rojer & Tecau, the second seeds this year, are out, beaten by Cuevas & Granollers by 7-5 4-6 3-6...
Yay, down to 4 contenders for #1, Mahut, Murray, B Bryan and Melo and the last two are barely hanging in mathematically.
(2) Roger & Tecau were (4) (err) Jamie & Bruno's theoretical seeds to meet in the SF, although potentially rather annoyingly (5) the Bryans have ended up in the boys' quarter.

Andy?
I am discovering what age I begin to increasingly write fairly random silly things down. Let's try Jamie.
"Murray" was working better
