It's currently 8-0 on points to Melzer

*0-2

Now *3-2, watch out for the backhand to backhand DTL rally, will happen a lot this match. It's clearly Melzer's weakest shot.

Three really bad points from Aljaz at *4-4 30-15 and that was the set gone. 4-6

that set started badly and ended badly, for Ali B. Melzer deserved it.

But life is looking better in the second.

Luckily....

From the Beeb's rolling sports news page:

Out on Court 14, qualifier Gerald Melzer takes the first set 6-4 against Britain's Aljaz Bedene, who admits his confidence is very low.

That doesn't augur too well. cry  That said, he's *4-2 in the second set...

Much, much better from Aljaz. Melzer's forehand is the key to the match though.

Aljaz seems finally to have steadied the ship:  third set in the bag by 6-4 (after he went 0-30 down in that tenth game! wink ).

Andy just restarted and was lucky not to give the break straight back. Aljaz looks comfortable.

Another one home & dry - eventually!

L128:  Aljaz Bedene WR 66 defeated (Q) Gerald Melzer (AUT) WR 130 by 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4

That should boost his confidence no end.  Now for Andy to win the one-set shoot-out against Ugly Mug to complete the set.

 Need an extra set Stircrazy : 4-6 6-3 6-4 6-4

Congratulations Aljaz

Feeling a lot less confident of Andy coming through against stepanek than I did overnight. 4-3 down final set now and serving. Really love the way stepanek plays and glad to see him still getting this exposure but just hoping it ends this round!

4-4 Rather a crucial game. Come on, AM!

Edit: And Stepanek holds to love. I will not engage in exhortation in future.
