The tradition and crap of Wimbledon sums up tennis in this country. Elitist farts from the home counties. I love the Zebras.
What a bitter and unpleasant comment! There must be some grudge we don't know about there.
Typical of the man, I'm afraid, KK. I doubt he even needs the excuse of a grudge!
No grudge, just stating perception. I can imagine zebra outfits at Wimbledon and some old people who are conservative with a small C, thinking how ghastly they look before they nip off for some strawbs and pims. These people are from the home counties, have doubled barreled names..... need I say anymore.
There is a massive problem with tennis and elitism in the UK and anyone that denies this is blind, and for me, Wimbledon represents this in its most vulgar form. As soon as tennis becomes a sport for the common man, as it is in Australia, Spain and France, will will have the numbers of players we deserve, until then.....it will just be hugo and tarquin in the top-200-300.
Well I think white looks great on a tennis court, like a lot of people of all backgrounds in this country I like tradition, and I live in Berkshire. Perhaps only the fact that I do not have a double-barreled surname saves me from being a fart! Mind you these days having a double-barreled surname often just means that your parents are not married or you have added your husband's name to your own.
Interesting. Aljaz appears to be wearing adidas kit, yet he has the good sense & taste not to bedeck himself in those ghastly zebra stripes!
Just discovered that the Brazilians use the term Zebra, for what we would call an Underdog. Was chatting with a colleague here today and talking wbout the up coming football match between Real Madrid and Athletico, and he said he was supporting Athletico because they were the Zebra.
Equally interesting, Bob. I guess Aljaz is not perceived to be a star name - yet...
P.S. I don't think there's an "h" in Atlético when it refers to Madrid, only Bilbao (for historical reasons) - & then there's no "o" at the end!
Other than the slow start Aljaz actually played some really good stuff in that match, sadly this was not one of those off days that Djokovic very rarely has and so even the best from anyone outside of the top 10 was never going to be good enough. He should be encouraged by this week though, good run and a creditable performance against Novak, shame he was off the boil for most of the clay season as it's his preferred surface but hopefully Leon can get him in the right frame of mind and he can take this form into Hertogenbosch. The positive is he won very little on grass last year so has little to defend.

First it's zebras, then it's bleedin' daffodils: sunglasses needed to watch Stan this year (shirt & shoes)! Bring on the conservatism of the Wimbledon dress code.
Re Andy's half of the draw, one serious obstacle removed: Raonic (8) by the unseeded Spaniard, Albert Ramos!
I think Bedene has an all round nice compact game. I think Jim C's comments on ITV were right. He does everything well, but lacks that magic something to ever be top 20. Forehand is also pretty challanger ish.

A lot depends on the schedule he plays. In my opinion he is as good if not better than RBA who has managed to make the top 20 through playing the right mix of events for his talents and strengths. It seems some of our players make odd choices such as Aljaz not entering events like Quito where the clay courts and a mostly challenger strength field would give him a great shot at an ATP title.

100% agree, if you play atp 250, in places like India and quito, the seeding can be so low. For a tour event, what is the lowest seed you have seen in terms of rankings. I'm sure at Newport the 8th seed was about 140 once.
Nishikori all over the place against Gasquet, which given his recent form is very surprising. He is a set and a double break down.
How do I know all this ? Because the darn TV schedulers here, having covered Suzanne Lenglen court all week, have decided to cover Philippe Chartrier today. I know I find watching Isner boring, but that is no consolation.

Not a problem for us in the UK, Bob. ITV4 covering Andy's match.
