Week 20 - Challenger Bangkok 3($50k+H) - Hard

Strange for Mr Groth to wait until the end of 1st before retiring, but whatever the circumstances Liam will take that.

as an aside, this wasn't for this tournament (no aspersions, Bangkok!), but a week back - and quite funny:

James Duckworth @JamesDuck21 May 10

Is it good when a chair umpire tells you at the end of a match "sometimes when you serve I have no idea if the ball is in or out" #china

A very productive swing for a lot of GB players.

Only the 7th seed left in the top half now. Alex and Liam must really fancy a good run this week...

3 out of 3 is great news. Now if only Evo had stayed on for the extra week, although I do think it is the right move for him to go home and prepare for grass.

Liam has been very fortunate recently with draws and some easier points at challenger level. If they do meet in the quarters be good to see Alex win and therefore make the top 250. The Wild Card for Wimbledon argument will pop up again as Alex and Liam climb towards top 200-250. Reckon one more win for Liam will be enough based on him winning a round last year.

Hurrah! One of the benefits of an early work morning - being able to record that:

Alex Ward WR 283 d Adrien Bossel (SUI) WR 364 (CH 262 Aug 2015) 7-5 6-3

Excellent. And Mr Glasspool has just gone on court.

Edit: Snap!

Glasspool v Lacko is at 3-3.

In customary fashion, I dipped in for a game. Haven't seen Mr Glasspool play on Tour before. See why people are interested to see where he will wind up. Was down 15-40 and released two consecutive aces ... and really beautiful ones, at that - anyone who can serve like that under pressure is interesting indeed. Also some very nice work at the net to win the game. Good luck to him! Back to work.

Lloyd has pinched the tie break. Can he possibly win the match....
