Alex has always had the talent, just keeps getting bad injuries at the wrong time. If he can get a full season in, he is capable of getting down to low 200's

Next round should be interesting. Bossel is very reliant on his serve, if that is not on fire, Alex should be better on the groundstrokes.

Yes. He's had some strange periods where he played Challengers and did well, played just 10ks and struggled, played 10ks and did better..... a bit of everything .... the stress fractures obviously haven't helped (to put it mildly) but don't seem directly related to the actual success when he HAS been able to play.

The change of bases, from Spain to, effectively, the UK, to Spain, might also have been relevant.

But a win over a guy ranked 111 is a big step up. And great to see.

That'll be another new Career High.

Bravo.

I've seen Alex play a few times and that was as good as I've seen him.

His forehand is a great shot now and he regularly created great angles that Sugita couldn't cope with.

His serve is also a weapon now, especially his first serve kicker that Sugita often returned from above his head.

Great chance for a challenger QF and possibly more...

If Groth is playing to current form then we should with any luck have a Brit in the semis.

No doubt Wardy is firing on all cylinders out in the Far East, great to see.

Liam takes 1st 6-4, early break paved the way to a relatively straightforward set.
