Week 20 - Futures - Portugal F6 ($10,000) - Setubal (hard)

QR1: Marcus Walters WR 2060 v (WC) (q14) Jose Ricardo Nunes (POR) WR 1670 (CH 1154 Mar 2014)

QR1: (q4) Billy Harris WR 1072 v Pedro Dominguez Alonso (ESP) UNR (CH 1186 Feb 2014)

Just great to see Billy back on court.  I hope his shoulder is fully recovered.

Having said how good it was to see Billy back on court, I see he has now been replaced by an Alternate. I am not sure if that means he has sneaked into the MD or whether he has pulled out. The Top seed in qualies was also replaced by an alternate but the Nšs 2&3 are still there.

Ah, I see Billy was behind the q2 and q3 seeds on the acceptance list so unfortunately I can't see that he would get into the main draw before either of them.

OK. My spies tell me that Billy's shoulder is fine, but he hurt his back during serve practice. He still hopes to play next week so it doesn't seem too bad.

Much better draw this week.

L32: Scott Clayton WR 769 v (Q) Vasco Mensurado (POR) WR 1040 (CH 644 Dec 2014)
L32: Jonny O'Mara WR 725 v (Q) Tiago Cacao (POR) WR 1135 (=CH)

Jonny and Scott are in opposite halves of the draw.

Edited for new rankings. Apparently the ITF rankings are still not updated.

I'm only about 90 mins south of Setabul this week had I thought about it I could have popped along to this.

There is still time.  The guys are playing dubs today and their singles will no doubt be scheduled for tomorrow.

Despite being 3rd seeds, Jonny and Scott got squeezed out of the R1 dubs match, losing 4-10 in the MTB

Two consecutive breaks for Scott see him take the set 6-3. Vamos.

Scott currently leads 4-3* in the 2nd. No breaks so far in this set, but we do have and MTO. Just wish Livescores had a means of showing which player was taking an MTO.

Unlucky for Scott & Jonny in the doubles:

R1:  Catalin Gard & Fred Gil (USA/POR) CR 1215 (598+617 - but a CH of 236 in April 2009 [he's 34]) defeated (3) Scott Clayton & Jonny O'Mara CR 991 (401+590) by 4-6 6-0 [10-4]  cry
