I think also the much better player, probably approaches the match with a much lower level of mental focus/intensity knowing the ability of his opponent, keeping something in the tank for future matches. Kyle will without doubt be a different proposition tomorrow.

Developed a cold on Thursday so not sure how he will play
And there's another explanation, hopefully won't him hinder him unduly.
Well perhaps a result like that against a youngster with nothing to lose and under those circumstances is not to be sneezed at
Fognini would be my choice...his form is sporadic at best and it would be a good test for Kyle
No thanks. Maybe a bit sporadic at finding it, but Fognini's form is very good at best.
Could be a very good test. But I think Kyle is to quite an extent points chasing at the moment, with regards to Olympics qualification, with him avoiding the clay Masters events. In that regard I'd prefer Pella or Verdasco.

What do we reckon the cut-off is? ~70?
Given that only four players can play from each nation (IIRC), and that a few have already dropped out due to scheduling (Tomic, Lopez), maybe even as low as 75-80 I guess.
The general consensus suggests that the cut off will be around the 70 mark. I am not convinced that it is too high on Kyle's radar, If it were top priority, I would have expected him to enter Manchester.
There's a wikipedia page, which has the current cut off at 88 - https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tennis_at_the_2016_Summer_Olympics_%E2%80%93_Qualification#Men.27s_singles It has Edmund missing out through not having played enough Davis Cup, as well as through being just outside in the rankings. I've been told on here that he may have an exemption through only having emerged recently as Davis Cup calibre, but if that exemption applies to him, it may to others ahead of him too.

Possibly not. Just the avoidance of any clay Masters events initially surprised me and disappointed me a bit, then I wondered if he was playing the percentages on ranking points and why that might be.

Interesting list although I don't know how accurate it is. It is clearly a few weeks out of date.
Biggest thing to jump off the page for me was that it says Rafa Nadal is ineligible. Think I'll reserve judgement on that one for now.
