Em was a late withdrawal from qualies.

Katy has drawn a 22 year old WC ranked outside the top 1000. Her second round match is likely to be Kuwata who won in Gifu last week (assuming both make it that far).

Katy won 1-6, 6-0, 6-0.

Should take her ranking up to 310, within a point of Tara @GB4, a handful of points short of the top 300.

Strange score line but I'm glad to see Katy getting the "expected" win. I guess the strange grass/sand surface may have taken a set to get re-used to.

Hopefully, in with a good chance going into next week on the same surface, against a slightly weaker field

It will be touch and go next week if Katy gets a seeding, but a kind draw would be very helpful in her quest to break back into the top 300
