Glad to return and see a very good win for Mandy. My thanks too for the link, watched some of the match on you tube. Mandy is a wonderful defensive player, but would really like to see her try and do something with her serve in due course... It's reliable but better players will eat it up. Still, a fantastic 14 points so far for Mandy (5 + 9), and with a lucky loser next, she has a very good chance to add another 18 - which would then surpass her last 25K tournament runner up points.
'Just' a further 9 points for reaching the QF ( i.e. for her 5 + 18 in total ), still 23 points ( at least ) would be a great follow-up to those recent 31 points for her 25K runner up.

Yes, my maths getting a bit overambitious on Mandy's behalf too quickly...
Roberta Vinci may well have been anxiously scanning the OOP here, to discover whether the actual GB clay specialist is going to stay on course for qualifying for the Italian Open 2017...
So far on clay, up to weekend...
Heather 110 points and out
JoKo 106 points and max 901
Mandy 45 points and max 136
Naomi 40 points and out
Ridiculous 8.30UK start time, with a fantastic quality livestream via links above. The French do them, the Yanks too... Which will be the last to discover the internet exists? Tennis Oz or the LTA?
Great from Mandy, she wins comfortably in the end, 6-3 6-3. Just watched a few games at the end; my impression was the standard was not as high as in the R1 match. Mandy's job seemed to be to keep the ball in play and eventually her opponent would make an error.
Another 9 points, takes her up to 23 for the tournament - and as Wimdledont pointed out earlier, level now with Tara on points. One more win to break into the 200s. The match to decide her next opponent has yet to go on court.
It's true that Manon A isn't a really top player but Mandy did all the damage in the first half of the set, playing very well, hitting big when needed and scampering well when under pressure. She then just had to hang on, really, at the end and the standard wasn't as good.
