Katy Dunne did well in WTA Birmingham qualies last year (she won at least two rounds against much higher ranked opponents) if I recall correctly. I would be surprised if she doesn't get another QWC this year.
Absolutely nothing against the Skupskis but between them Kyle and KKK have been in the final of every juniors doubles slam, the only one they haven't won is the Australian, KKK did make the final, having won Wimbledon, with Kyle a champion in France and Flushing Meadow.
Given that they are both likely to be playing at the same level for a decade or so and have a track record of being on it in every respect in terms of developing themselves as tennis players it is a partnership I would love to see flourish.
Queens is prestigious, and the money is good, but if I were a doubles player, I think I'd rather play Ilkley than Queens. There are no good draws at Queens - so you might do well, but you might well end up with no points. Ilkley could mean more grass practice, more points, etc. On the other hand for Mr Edmund and Mr Kokkinakis, it doesn't particularly matter whether they get doubles points or not.

I would highly doubt that it is any sort of lasting partnership. Basically they are understandably very much singles concentrated players now, particularly Kyle ( with very clear proven doubles talent ) and this is very likely more to do with Kyle getting in a bit more doubles in the lead up to a Wimbledon MD doubles WC with or without Kokkinakis. If the partnership flourishes I suspect it will be a rather temporary flourishment

Agreed they are both singles players but I get a sense that KKK actually likes playing doubles, he actively sort out Andy to play doubles with him Indian wells last year.
Is there any news as to what Bedene is doing this week?
1st alternate in Halle, 2nd Alternate at Queens following Rafa's withdrawal. I think he will get in at Halle in the next day or so and my understanding is that he can't then stay on the list for a spot at Queens but the rules are a little confusing around these situations so I may be wrong.
I saw some speculation about the WC at Queens going to Kevin Anderson who is apparently entered in qualifying. The consensus over at MTF is that the final WC is only for an A+ player and that even as last years beaten finalist KA does not meet that description. That being the case that would suggest Aljaz could not be offered that WC unless an exception applies for home players. I would think though that if it is left open then it would go to an alternate and that would at worst move Aljaz to being first alternate as he is currently at Halle. I think the dual entries here is a direct reaction to the disaster of Madrid where Aljaz did not enter qualifying or a back-up tournament and ended up 2 spots outside the main draw when the music stopped.
