Did well, to turn things around - stepped up her level and aggression in the second half of the final set to telling effect.
Lots of clay deficiencies, but there's generally good stuff there today.
Anything above shoulder height Hev finds a real struggle to do anything with.
Naomi was broken right at the start of the first set, but thereafter it was pretty even.
There was only one BP in the set, for either player.
McHale served a frankly incredible 62%, winning 94%!
That will obviously need to change.
4-6
In the first set, McHale got to set point before dropping her only point lost on first serve.
In the second, she was 3 BPs down before winning a first serve point. Did her no good though.
This is impressive stuff by Naomi after a slow start, I had my doubts as to whether her performances in Madrid were just indicative of conditions there suiting her serve and aggressive game, but this performance against a player in form, is massively positive.
Ana Konjuh reminds me a little of Madison Keys, huge weapons, and looks a sure fire future top tenner, but somethings are holding them back, nice to see Hev find her 'A' game towards the end of the match, I think the small injury stopped her momentum somewhat, but hopefully a win like this will kickstart back into her best form.
