Katie and Freya are down to compete out in the Far East again, which is a bit of a surprise, given that Eastbourne is the week after.

Perhaps they are not intending to play Eastbourne. No reason that they have to play the full grass season.

Freya's strategy is clear as mud to me. She's been withdrawing at the last moment from some of the best-money-and-points tournaments she could possibly hope to play over tha last few weeks.

Excuse my ignorance, but Evo is WR97, so why isn't he down for Roland Garros? I didn't see him on the qualies list either?

The entry list for Roland Garros is based on the rankings of a couple of weeks back where Evo would not have made the MD.  Rather than play qualies on clay, he has chosen to play some hard court challengers in the far east instead.

ITF updated - strange choice for Ed to enter China when the grass season is about to start

Ed has withdrawn from China as he didn't qualify in Bangkok and will now prepare for grass.

Not surprised by that - it looked strange anyway.

Alex Ward has also withdrawn from Spain, I assume to prepare for grass as he is almost certain to get a wildcard to Manchester challenger

tables updated

OK so he's not British - but it's a real shame that Gael Monfils has had to withdraw from Roland Garros - hospitalised with some virus, seemingly.

With no Gael to delight (and exasperate) the crowd.

And no Roger to add a bit of class.

It's a bit sad.....

Agreed about Gael Monfils. Or, as Carole Bouchard said: "NOOOOOOOOOONNNNNN ! Monfils forfait pour RG. Mais c'est pas possible ! Pffff avec la saison qu'il fait."
