This was in the rare event known as doubles qualifying, the MD is out now. Em+ get a terrible draw in the doubles, Katy's draw not the easiest but looks reasonable for this level.

R1: Na-Lae HAN (KOR) WR 243 (CH 225 in August) vs Katy DUNNE WR 324

R1: Ksenia LYKINA (RUS) & Emily WEBLEY-SMITH CR 330 (171+159) vs [2] Shuko AOYAMA (JPN) & Makoto NINOMIYA (JPN) CR 181 (83+98)

Dunne lost in 3 after a bright start, but EWS+ won well in straight sets.

Did Katy retire or is the 3-1 final set just a typo?

Typo. It was 1-6.

Oh, I suppose that's better than a retirement, but possibly not that much better smile

Neither Katy nor Harriet have done particularly well since they moved to Goslings.  Got a few wins certainly, but largely seem to be treading water.  Not sure if Goslings have caused the stagnation or whether they moved there because they thought they were getting stuck and the Goslings' training scheme has failed to re-ignite things.

Based on several small things, all pretty insignificant on their own, but they add up, I haven't been impressed with Gosling, what I've heard and what the results seem to be....

However, it's obviously horses for courses and all that so presumably it works for some....

Em+ are warming up.

Their opponents have played over 6 hours of singles between them earlier today.
