I agree RJA but I don't think he had a choice but add more variety to his backhand side purely because he will be taken apart by better players if he is over reliant on his slice, regardless of its excellence.
I can't think of a player on the men's side who uses it more which I suppose upto now accounts for its success. However the boy is in the big time now! and it will not come as a surprise to more talented and adaptable players.
Very pleased Dan has moved on quickly with another win, with a bit luck he will be playing more 5 set tennis. To get beyond the first /second round will be a different test, longer tougher battles less rest, to be the player he can be he needs that mindset.
Nice to see Liam continue his winning ways, tough match next against Milky.
Anyone know much about the end of year Challenger tournament for the top 8 Challenger players, just wondering where Dan would be, not that it would be one of his aims or anything, just interested.
Couldn't find anything online about it apart from previous years.
Interestingly there was a discussion about players one has developed an affinity for and for me the milkman is one (sounds like a nickname for a cereal killer! )
Great to see Milky doing so well but with my one eyed very objective British hat on I hope he gets thrashed in the next round by Liam!
Good wins from both. Dan in particular showing no signs of fatigue from last week which is great although I am glad he has a much deserved day off tomorrow! Anyone know what the turnaround plan was like from winning the title on the Sunday, traveling and then playing again Tuesday?
Will also be interesting to see how Dan changes his game on what seem like quite slow courts in Busan (Groth hitting more doubles than aces!), was interesting to see him coming over the backhand much more today so maybe feels like the slice will be less effective this week.

Bi sad here, nil else to do for the mo!, flight time just over 2 hours, and 1-2 flights a day direct Taipei to Busan, so not a big deal really.

Someone on the menstennisforum keeps an unofficial challenger rankings thread going which they update. Current challenger only rankings has Dan at 4th.

It's usually held in south America and has 200k in prize money, wonder if Dan would turn up if he was still in the top 8?
Considering it's normally on Clay(I think) and Dan is completely avoiding the clay court season then I'd imagine there's a good chance if qualified that he misses it.
