If I had Sky Sports and some amphetamines, I'd pop a couple of those pills so I could watch Dan v. KK swiftly followed by Khan v. Alvarez in Las Vegas.
I've watched quite a lot of Dan over the last couple of weeks. He is beating good players, earning points and has an increasingly happy bank manager. What I really want to know is how often he can reach the level he achieved against Berankis. The standard of his play in that match was huge! I think that match is still watchable.
Anyway enjoy the w/e
The Berankis match was easily the highest level Dan has produced over the last couple of weeks, although the Kravchuk match was arguable more impressive from a mental point view. However I don't think we can expect that kind of performance from him at outdoor tournaments where he has to play with a little more margin for error.
So the run comes to an end after 9 straight wins. Kravchuk emerges the victor 6-4 6-4
Not a huge deal between the two but Kravchuk's weight of shot just opened the court up for him that bit more. Still, another great week, another 65 points in the bag, and another flight to catch.
Or maybe a train or a taxi actually, no idea how far Seoul is from Busan!
Seoul is in the far north-west of the country, Busan is on the south-east coast, so about 3-4 hours overland or an hour's flight - nothing too terrible by tennis player standards!

With that in mind I'm glad Dan lost in straights if he was going to end up on the wrong end. Plenty of time to get over and get prepped for Seoul. I sense another good run there :)
Yay A131 and polite of you to answer a question even if some people find the Slam MD WC 'system' disagreements boring. And anyway always new folk each year to lead to a better path
I didn't say I found the topic boring. I said I found people saying the same thing over and over boring. I must have read the same thing at least 20 times on different threads where it get stated that wild cards shouldn't be given at Grand Slams etc.
And it is off topic to the thread. If you want to discuss go and talk about it in a dedicated wild card thread to your hearts content. This topic is about the Busan challenger.
Wish I had just quoted this In hindsight!
Fair dos, noted and apologies. Expect a dedicated thread in the fairly near future
My apologies too! I was the main culprit and though I found some of the comments for going off topic to the thread didn't make for pleasant reading (because I knew I had gone too far) I totally understand and bear no grudges whatsoever. I know I am going to have to figure out a way not to get so wound up about WC's. This ia forum and I accept not everyone will agree or have the same outlook on them as I do and that is their absolute privilege. I won't be posting for a while so in the meantime - all the best and keep enjoying tennis!
Wasn't expecting that, but still a great week for Evo. It's always interesting to see how a sporting matchup goes the 2nd time around, after a small gap in time, history will tell you, that results are often reversed.
Evo didn't really do a deal wrong to be honest, Kravchuk was just the better player on the day and as I said above, seemed to be hitting pretty hard and deep consistently. You know Evo's rise has been meteoric when you're disappointed at a loss in a final after 9 straight wins. Allez Le Phoenix
