Have a sneaky premonition that this might be the week Mirabelle wins her first singles title
Tough draw for Sab - Zaniewska won last weeks event in Hammamet

Mirabelle's quest to prove AliBB's premonition either prophetic (hopefully) or pathetic, begins strongly.
*3-0

First set, done.
6-1

Would be good to see Mirabelle have a run. I believe she's been working quite a bit on her game in the relative rankings window she had ( and will continue to have for another couple of months ) before she starts defending points. But about now would seem maybe a good time to be pushing on again.

She's been playing club tennis in the last month but at a level way below her own (just based on where her team is) and so has hardly broken sweat, by the looks of it.

However, as par Indy and the comments a while back from her 'friend?/coach?', if she's been working on new things, it'll have been very useful to play some real easy proper matches to try it out on.

Here's hoping.....

Been an excellent day so far; so many wins.
Can Sabrina add to the GB haul?
1-0*

Sabrina always looked to have by far the toughest test of our ITF ladies today, and, after 4 straight sets wins, she's the first to lose a set.
2-6

Sabrina retires
Hopefully nothing serious.

In the play there was, she had 5 BP but couldn't take any; Zaniewska took all of hers.

Mirabelle (with young French prospect, Devesne) stages a good first set comeback in her doubles.
7-5

And, in fact, that's where it ends, as the opponents retire thereafter.
R1: Njoze/Devesne (GBR/FRA) defeated Lukacs/Ramirez (HUN/USA) 7-5 RET

I hope Mirabelle is ok, she's not had a good year so far. Last year she regularly got to QF's then lost, this year she is frequently not even getting that far. I saw the working to change aspects of her game to get to the next level remark, late last year, and since then it appears that many of her results have in fact been worse rather than better than before.

So I hope that the changes are indeed eventually going to help her game, rather than vice versa...
