Tara looks good, despite the score. FH has the 2014 JoKo relationship with the baseline, and her shot selection is questionable - too many attempted inside out cross courts opening the body up after running round the ball late. But, looks in generally good shape. Don't think she'll win to day, but very hopeful for the rest of the year if she stays healthy and keeps working on the, still obvious, rough edges.

I'd agree with that assessment. Her groundstrokes are looking good, she's moving well, serve is a bit up and down, just not sure how she's trying to beat Taylor to be honest.
At 0-2* (16:51 in the recording livestream.com/livesportsllc/events/5276513/videos/121387528), she seems to bend over and clutch her left knee/calf is all I can suggest.
She seemed OK for the three games after that though.
Very sad
Was really looking forward to see Tara play a full match for once.
Hope she recovers from whatever ails her soon.
R2: Taylor TOWNSEND (USA) 273 (CH 94 02/2015) beat (Q) Tara MOORE (GBR) 314 5-0 RET
Was always going to be very tough with recent Taylor bearing not much relation at all to her current ranking. Sounds as if there was some issue, but hopefully it was a mainly precautionary retirement the way the match was going.
How can it be a bad day with wins for Heather, Naomi Lisa and Sam???
Precaution for Tara makes sense, she was never going to win this match and it makes sense for her to be fit for qualies for next week where there are more points at stake.

A bad day because absence through injuries to e.g. Lisa, Sam, KB has been costing quite as much as on-court success is gaining.
All of the GB women other than the top 3 (+Laura, while she has a SR) are now restricted to playing largely in ITF 10ks, whence there is little chance of escape, because maths. Unless they are fit in June, and on form on grass, because the 2016 LTA tournament calendar.
If Tara, who is best placed to get the points to graduate to ITF 25k+ main draws, has picked up something which will keep her out for a couple of months, this is a black day.
The great thing is that there are fewer British women out injured than for many a day, we have Sam back ( and winning again today ), Katie B back ( and winning a 10K title last week ) Eden back ( and winning a match earlier this week ), Lisa who of course has been back much longer now seeming to be making real progress ( and winning again today ) and the great wins in Madrid, These cannot be usurped by Tara retiring, with it being hardly oh no not one more, doom day, since as I say it's been an improving injury position.
On court other than Tara retiring from a match she was very unlikey to win ( hopefully with nothing serious ) and Beth losing a match she was not expected to win ( and had a great CH win earlier this week ) it's been an extremely good day for British women, and the guys in Taiwan. Good week, good day, pity about Tara, but unclear as to how bad or not her hip is.
I honestly though that in your first post you'ed typed "bad" instead of "good" by mistake. I need to pass on my half empty glass

If Tara retired to fight again next week, it's a great day.
If our 4th ranked player isn't fit to play during the main period of the year when she might hope to catch up with the top 3, that's very disappointing for her (and me).
If she's out for a year or so, and goes back to UNR sometime in 2017, with no SR for players outside the top 300, it's a disaster.
Katy D, Freya, Tara are all knocking on the door of top 300. Katie S, Mandy and Laura R will be soon and then Gabi Taylor and Lisa Whybourn and possibly Harriet Dart ready to step up. Sam and Katie B will be in time. The future is rosy on the women's side....

There I was thinking this had been an excellent day for the GB women LOL - very sorry that Tara had to retire today though
Her tweet seems to suggest it's not something that's going to keep her out for a long time either - I'm guessing something twinged in her hip today and that would have made playing two matches in those conditions today (even if she had been able to come back in the first one) next to impossible so she did the sensible thing under the circumstances.
