Kibi broke back and levelled at 3-3, but Liam has now broken again and will serve for the match at *5-3

It was a battle in the end, but when results haven't been coming and confidence is not at its best, it is always going to be that way.

Liam swaps breaks to win 6-2 6-4

Good performance from Liam if not spectacular. Good to see him take advantage of what has to be said is a dream run to a Challenger QF.

With him due to play qualies in Korea at the end of the week, what are the rule regarding a SE should he beat Weintraub? Will he not get one due to this being a $75k and next week being a $100k?

My guess Spaced....and others know a lot more than me, is that he will have to win his semi to be eligible.

I think that rule only applies on the women's side.

As far as I'm aware if Liam is still playing when qualifying starts for the next tournament, he would get an SE.

Assuming that Busan qualifying starts on Saturday he will get an SE if he beats Weintraub.

Great start to the week, I have a feeling with not many points to defend during the grass season other than Wimby of course, Liam could do some major damage during the month of June. I wonder whether it's easier to go from hard to grass rather than clay to grass.

Liam played all the grass challengers last year (I think) and didn't win a match.

Lets hope he picks up enough points in the next few weeks to get direct entry on the grass and free up more wildcards for GB players.

Liam was ranked inside the top 200 last year at grass season. He's unlikely to be inside top 250. I'd imagine entry to the challengers will again have a 200-250 cut so he ll need a Wild Card as will Josh Alex etc. In fact James might even need a bit of help there too.

Evans started well. A break followed by a hold, so leads 2-0
