In other Evo related news he won't be playing Roland Garros qualifying and has instead chosen to extend his Far East tour and will play the Bangkok challenger that week (as will Liam Broady and Alex Ward).
What is the entry list looking like,
I imagine most people will be trying to qualify for Frog Open, and people in the main draw of Frog Open, do not really want to be across the other side of the world right before. It could be one of those events more like a top futures field, which means it could be quids in for Evo et al.

A couple of top 100 players (Groth and Lu), a few just outside the top 100 but fairly weak after that. Original cut off is 316.
That's very pleasing news. Maybe I'm reading a bit too much into it but I reckon if you subscribe to the 'new Evo' theory, the 'old Evo' would've taken the easy payday at FOQ's
I tune in to see Dan deep into a 2nd set tie break , having won the first set easily. He wins the breaker and seals a first round victory. Sterner tests bla bla. Hopefully his next match will be on at a more reasonable hour...
I'm also pleased to see him forsake the dirt and a few euros in the quest for top 100 status. If he can make it to the semis of each event in this eastern stint, that should cover it nicely! Then there is plenty of tennis to be played in Blighty, he could play here for 5 consecutive weeks if he chose to. Because 3 of those tournaments are main tour events, that doesn't mean to say he would be playing loads and loads of matches but I hope I am wrong about that
Edit: I've just realised that it is going to be a whole month on tour for Dan! It is unusual for him. Good luck!

Could be pretty good, Dan a man with a mission strikes me as rather more dangerous than Dan well I'm kinda here to play tennis.
Be great if he could get into that top 100 and, while I think it is an aim and a figure that does really resonate with most pros, more importantly the potential benefits that open up at that sort of level.

It's been pretty obvious for some time that Dan is a man on a mission and he finally looks like someone whose tennis career is his number one priority. At the risk of jinxing things the silly defeats against vastly inferior opponents have been almost completely eliminated. Since Wimbledon last year the only really bad defeat he has suffered was losing to Dayne Kelly in the first round of the Happy Valley challenger and as that was his first match of 2016 I think we can just put it down to rust. I don't think his level of play is much better than in previous years, the difference is mostly down to focus and consistency.
Hopefully he can make the top 100 over this Asian tour. It has already been a wonderful achievement to drag himself from a low point of 772 nearly a year ago to 123 as of this week and making it all the way to the top 100 would be the icing on the cake.
Wang certainly does have a decent level of play in him and obviously he is playing in front of his home crowd but looking at his results this year there really isn't anything to suggest that he should cause Evo too much difficulty.
I don't think it is that notable that he is playing all out attack. This is indoor carpet, anybody who wants to try and rally endlessly would be well advised to not bother turning up in the first place.

A very poor choice of words from me, I mean he's hitting the ball a lot harder and flatter than yesterday.
