Well done the Davi(e)s

In April 2010 (aged 17), Ben Davis' CH of =1473 was based on 1 point obtained as a WC in a May 2009 Newcastle futures, just before his 17th birthday, won on a retirement in R1 ( to be fair against Luca Vanni no less and the score was 6-7(3) 4-2 RET ). Dan Cox then beat him 6-0 6-0 in R2. Just meaning I don't think he's a prodigy that got away. But all the best to him and George.

I'm confused, has this venue hosted 3 futures in a row now?

Apparently this will make it 6 futures in a row, all this year's Greek futures so far. and your confusion is ?

 My conclusion is 3 fold.

1) Due to massive economic problems in Greece, they are saving money by hosting all the futures in one place

2)Some areas of Greece away from the mainland are swamped with migrants and thus are no longer safe or suitable for a futures tourn

3)I do not read the Daily Mail.

I strongly doubt that Indy's source of information re the the 6 ITFs on the trot in Heraklion was the Daily Mail....

There is nothing remotely unusual about having 3 or more events in a row at the same venue. For a country to host a 10K futures they are required to put an event on for 3 consecutive weeks and in many countries the easiest option is to use the same venue. For example all the futures events played in Qatar (6 a year normally) are held at the Khalifa International Tennis and Squash Complex. In the case of Greece a string of events have been held at Heraklion during the spring for several years.
