If Katarzyna wins the two Pitaks will play each other to decide the qualifier.

That's an amazing result from young Ola, age only 14

A top 1000 scalp, no less !

In the end, Katarzyna got a walkover, so it will be the family feud decider.

A hard fought battle between the sisters so far. Aleksandra just broke back to force the TB
6-6

And the younger sibling takes the TB of an hour long set
Aleksandra 7-6(6) Katarzyna

The tight match continues through the second set. Aleksandra is serving for it.
Aleksandra 7-6(6) *5-4 Katarzyna

But Katarzyna manages a break to stay alive
Aleksandra 7-6(6) 5-5* Katarzyna

Another hour long set, results in another TB
Aleksandra 7-6(6) 6-6 Katarzyna

From 2-5 and 4-6 down, Katarzyna has saved 2 MP to tie it up 6-6
And then earns her own SP at 7-6
But that too is denied 7-7, 8-8
It's probably a minor classic this!

Aleksandra finally prevails after two epic sets.
7-6(6) 7-6(8)

Wow, some match that, as the 14 year old beats the 17 year old. Somehow I think older sister might not be in a great frame of mind this evening. As for Aleksandra, despite beating a top 1000 player AND her older sister, she is still going to have a tough struggle to win a point!

Ola is 15 on Wednesday and she reversed the lose against Kato at the Wirral. Both are ranked 2.2 on the British ranking system.

I wonder why they both haven't played more on the ITF junior circuit.

Both have played a bit of ITF proper in the last 6 months or so.

I suppose it's means, motive and opportunity.

I think that that this is the first event where either has had a real bit of success. - I.E. qualifying as far as ITF proper.

Hopefully they can keep it going as there is a lot of promse there smile

Yes. It may also be that their coach (father?) does not really approve or rate ITF junior events. They wouldn't be the only ones.

Because they certainly seem to have traveled quite a lot in the last year - France, Germany, Poland, Greece - and, as you say, not had a lot of success (although a 14 year old is not expected to have 'much success')

Without knowing the exact circumstances it's difficult to guess. One argument may be that if your paying to travel abroad then you might as well go to a 10k rather than a high rated junior event. They are more accessable and you might as well be hung for a sheep as a lamb.

All the best to Aleksandra though she's got a tough draw smile

PS don't understand why they're not in the doubles as they have 2pts playing as a pair ?
