Though most of the seeds have disappeared, it's still a really talented field, with 5 very good graduating juniors, and Shinikova going for her 12th ITF title since Jan 2015.

After getting off to a dreadful start, losing the first 8 points, Mandy has staged a heck of a comeback, to take the first set 6-3.

That makes this the second-best week, in ranking points won (19), of Mandy's decade-long career - and counting...

In less welcome news, she's likely to miss the sign-in for the Cagnes sur Mer 100k qualies tomorrow.

Lovely stuff.
Mandy doing a Laura Siegemund - in 6 matches so far yet to lose a set
Number one and eight seeds bopped off already.
Tough one next, my Romanian friends say Ruse is a better prospect than Halep, and Halep is very much the queen of their universe.

Some really good performances this week, and Mandy makes three into the weekend to boot, with Tara still TBD.

Interesting, AliB.....

I know Ruse was no 7 in the world as a junior (and she's only 18 now (!) and doing extremely well) but I've never seen her play.

But if they really rate her.....

Another magnificent win for Mandy this week, wonderful. Three qualifiers into the semi-finals now, will make for an interesting pair of matches next, but it would appear challenging for Mandy to progress any further. At least by the end of next week she will be +4 points up on where she is now, after the 15 points coming off this week!
