There's only been one service hold in 9 games.

So whoever can get their service game in order is likely to become the leader of the pack.

Good to see Mandy back getting some good wins after a tough start to 2016.

She reached the SF of this event last year (though it was held a few weeks earlier in the year) so clearly the environs agree with her. Next up should theoretically be the top seed Rodina, which will be a tough ask but the Russian is short on wins this year (lots of WTA qualifying losses and only one match win to her name) so could be vulnerable (assuming Ankita Raina does not knock her out).

In a tangled little web of a match - Rodina is playing with Raina. Rodina defeated Raina in singles earlier today. In the next round, Rodina & Mandy play each other - Mandy & [Not Alice] have claimed the second set to force the MTB against the second seeds.
4-6 6-3
