Thanks for the heads up, DF.

James certainly looked very comfortable on the clay during that set....

Well, it WAS enjoyable.....

And then James goes AWOL, hits two DFs, gets himself completely in a tizz about it, supposedly (if I heard right from the commentator) says something pretty rude to Tennys as they change over (along the lines of 'that's the only way you'll ever break') and then plays like a complete moron.....

OK, 6-3 2-6, final set underway ....

.... and I can clear my mind of watching guys sprinkling the court with a message "toilet break" on screen.

1-2* after 3 breaks in the 3rd set.

I agree with the commentator who just said "it feels like a battle for survival". It's not pretty, generally safety first tennis from both yet still managing to spray plenty balls about as James did in the final two points of the last game.

After such a promising start, James loses in 3 sets.

I give up!  Even against a WC, he still can't hack it!

L32:  (WC) Tennys Sandgren (USA) WR 281 defeated James Ward WR 174 by 3-6 6-2 6-3  bleh

I only saw the end of the second set and then the third set. In that James looked pretty devoid of confidence and, presumably linked to that, enterprise. Sad to see.

Sandgren's overall world ranking neatly ( if not pleasingly ) matches James 2016 race position of #281

Edit : actually it beats it, since this week's updated WRs are Sandgren WR 271 and Ward WR 173. Sandgren's race position is #285
