Err interesting women's doubles draw : Emily & Lykina's half hasn't started at all and the other half is at the SF stage. The four outstanding L16 matches and the resulting QFs and the other half SF are all on Friday's schedule.

Well, there were certainly earlier weather issues ( ie why Katie's R1 singles got put back to today and she had to double up ) and since Emily's doubles was also on today's schedule but put back to tomorrow, I am guessing more weather issues (as per earlier, there seemed to be varying weather reports ).
At least all the top half of the doubles seems to be in the same position, though I believe some of them also have singles to play !
Edit : yes, 5 of the 16 players still to start their doubles first have singles QFs tomorrow, so face potentially 3 matches tomorrow, that includes one of Em & Lykina's R1 doubles opponents and potentially could be one of their QF opponents if they get there.

katie confirms that she was running on fumes by the end of things but doesn't sound down-heartened

Didn't have enough left in the tank in the 2nd match today but great trip overall & can't wait to get home! #ThankYouChina
Even so, she still nearly won it. She has confirmed that it was a huge challenge but to get herself into the position she was in despite that is encouraging. I think ultimately her body would be able to cope with situations like that better when she is a little older as well.
Em's R1 doubles finally appears to have restarted some time today, but play appears to have stopped with the score at 6-3 *3-4
I'm fairly convinced that her R1 match has been well completed. I think her score just 'died'. I just don't know the result though ! And as yet no OoP for Saturday.
There was evidently plenty tennis played after it died including the doubles SF in the other half, in theory on the same court. And there was a singles QF that also 'died'; and one of the players then popped up in a doubles match.
Hey hum ...

The small lion fighting to the last, staging a last ditch recovery that looked little more than having avoided double bakery. Now, though? Can we get another break to carry on some more? 1-6 *4-5
Sadly, no.

In thirty years, Emily's well refined anecdote of a madcap week in China will more than compensate for the eventual loss. Probably not so much today though. The successful doubles week at least tempers the recent frustration of not having been able to close matches out.
On to the next adventure!
