Week 16 - ATP 250 - BRD Nastase Tiriac Trophy, Bucharest, Romania (clay)

Didn't realise that Kyle's next opponent, Sńr Garcia Lopez, is the reigning champion here. His run to the title last year included wins over Baghdatis, Rosol, Monfils and then Jiri Vesely in the final. So does being defending champ put extra pressure on you, or is it a source of motivation ? (or both, of course)

Kyle's dad tweeting about a lot of rain in Bucharest today so maybe no play. He says:

It's pouring here in Bucharest @NastaseTiriac. Not sure @kyle8edmund will get on today

QF:  Guido Pella & Lukas Rosol (that man again!) (ARG/CZE) CR 315 (221+94) vs (4) Jonathan Erlich (ISR) & Colin Fleming CR 110 (50+60)

Nice to be able to break the sequence of posts about defeats in the doubles:

QF:  (4) Jonathan Erlich (ISR) & Colin Fleming CR 110 (50+60) defeated Guido Pella & Lukas Rosol (ARG/CZE) CR 315 (221+94) by 2-6 6-4 [10-6]  smile

They were so very nearly down & out at 0-3* in the second! *gulp*

Excellent work. Well done to the pair of them. And no shame in Mr Edmund's loss, either. Upwards and onwards. Mr Fleming was defending SF points here. He doesn't have much more to defend before the grass season, so any wins are to the good.

SF:  (4) Jonathan Erlich (ISR) & Colin Fleming CR 110 (50+60) vs Chris Guccione & André Sá (AUS/BRA) CR 118 (63+55)

The boys' semi-final opponents should have been the second seeds, Booty & Lipsky, but Sá & the Gooch saw them off by 2-6 6-2 [18-16]!

Colin defends his 90 SF points from here last year ( with Jonny Marray who clearly hasn't defended them ) but no more.
