And he does indeed emulate Aljaz's heroics, spurning a few match points along the way!

L32:  Kyle Edmund WR 92 defeated Lukas Rosol WR 61 by 7-6(4) 7-6(5)   biggrin

*****

L16:  (4) Guillermo García (ESP WR 37 (CH = 23 in February 2011 - he's 32) vs  Kyle Edmund WR 92

Woh that was a bit tense at the end, but a superb fight-back from Kyle - and great timing as I have to go out now! Thanks Kyle!

Fleming and Erlich are involved in a really tight match - two breakers and 6-6 in the MTB

Phew  Potential banana skin avoided!

R1:  (4) Jonathan Erlich (ISR) & Colin Fleming CR 110 (50+60) defeated Robin Haase & Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi (NED/PAK) CR 154 (109+45) by 6-7(3) 7-6(7) [10-6]

Seven set points required before they were able to bag the second-set tie-break & diced with death a bit in the MTB!

Nice win for Kyle although beating Rosol doesn't really tell us all that much about his level. The next round will be much more interesting.

Great win for Kyle, always nice to win 2 TB sets. Now up against a guy who I was sat with whilst watching an England match at the last WC, decent chap, but hopefully not in peak form for R2.

Finally back online after a lengthy power outage. Solid win from Kedders. Always good to get the first one under your belt after a change of surface. As RJA says, difficult (without seeing the match) to judge the level as Rosol can be so unpredictable, but any win against a player ranked 30 places above you in the Top 100 is a good one.

Really pleased for Colin too. He could do with a good run of results.

Yes.  Garcia Lopez is an experience campaigner and of course, a clay court specialist.  But having had a bye in the opening round, he may still be a bit "cold" in R2.  Going to be interesting.

I watched the match, kyle's forehand won him the match although Rosol threw the second set away really.
