Some fighting there too, Katie saved 10/11 BPs. Another one start of the second set. Saved and held... Hope she can keep it up now.

Brilliant week for Katie so far! Hopefully she can take the title tomorrow! Should be up to around 852 with this win? She'll be back up the rankings in no time :D!

Judging from their rankings, Anastasia seems to be the real deal!

Let's hope tomorrow Katie has disproved both of their claims to the title.

Well all my life I've been waiting for British tennis to bring a fairytale my way, and hopefully after tomorrow's match Katie's opponent will know just how it feels to be left outside alone wink

Katie beat Anastasia 0&2 two years ago so should be pretty confident she can get the same result again.

Two years ago indeed, and 6-0 6-2, but still a very different time and circumstances for these young girls.

Their Thailand FQR in February 2014 was a 17 yo Katie WR 781 against an 18 yo unranked Anastasia, early on in effectively their breakthrough into seniors year. Katie ended 2014 WR 347, Anastasia WR 466.

Since then Katie has had her annus horribilis, retiring in her first match of the year and not playing another match in 2015, and Anastasia is overall back around that end of 2014 ranking mark having evidently played a pretty full schedule, though she did hit a CH 351 in November 2015 ( close to Katie's CH 340 from February 2015, just after she started her lay-off ).

Now Katie seems to be starting to find her feet in her comeback, but there may be a few ups and downs yet.

I fancy Katie to win again though, if not quite so easily
