And there was I looking at this earlier and exercising restraint despite the gift of the opponent's name ....

(Glad someone didn't; never let a good pun go to waste!)

Hope that things begin to pick up for Mr Broady.

Without trying to be flippant what on earth were you expecting to happen?

De Greef is primarily a clay court player and is in good form, he reached a challenger final a week ago beating 4 top 200 players in straight sets. On the other hand Liam rarely plays on clay and isn't exactly in good form. Anything other than a comfortable win for De Greef would have been a big surprise.

Not sure if you missed the idea of the post RJA, but I think Miriam was trying to say "Good Greef!".  wink

You are right though.  Given recent form, I'm not sure Liam even had "Arthur" chance today. disbelief IGMC

Well, yes. My own initial thoughts had been something about "coming to Greef" at the hands of his opponent. I decided against on the grounds that I didn't want to seem to make light of something that must be discouraging for Mr Broady, a player whom I would really like to see do well. But the name really is a gift, and someone was bound to pick it up!

Thanks, RJA, for providing context on de Greef.

Couldn't resist the temptation!, but maybe using the surname would have been clearer!
