Pity. I recall an element of seeming criticism at so many of us having enough doubts re Josh to not have in our predictions for this year's GB 10.
As things stand he will do well to come out of this year's grass season in that top 10 ( in particular still ahead of Lloyd and Ed ) with as paulisi says a lot of points to defend.
Worrying to read RJA's post. Must hope that Josh can find much more motivation and energy than apparently there at present and prove the doubters wrong.

I have seen him like this on a couple of occasions before, although only ever "tanking" a set as opposed to the whole match. To be fair to him his game requires him to be playing at close to 100% otherwise his level drops from a guy ranked 300 or so to a guy who barely belongs in the top 1000. That being said there is no excuse for such an appalling lack of effort.
I'm always a bit wary about making harsh comments about a player's performance. It could be the result of so many things other than just not trying/caring. It may be true in this case, I have no idea, but as a retired top level sportsperson I used to get frustrated by comments about me from people who had no clue. Yes the performance may have been disappointing but only he knows how motivated he was - and after all, he's playing for himself not a team or his country so he's the one who loses out. Mini rant over
Posters who wish to impugn certain British tennis players, question their motives for travelling long distances to compete in tournaments only to fall at the first hurdle or allege - how shall I put it? - improper practices on their part without providing irrefutable evidence to substantiate their claims would be better advised to use social media other than this message board to make such allegations - & see how quickly they find themselves prosecuted for libel! I have removed the offending posts from this thread & a couple of subsequent responses ("collateral damage", I'm afraid).

Thank you SC. That whole conversation made me very uncomfortable.
