Been following Jonny's career since he was about 10 - so pleased for him that the hard work is producing results and that he is playing without injury. Congrats also to Lloyd. May the best man win.
What a great couple of results. Clearly as said nobody wants to see a retirement but as also stated if any deserved the rub of the green it's Jonny. Fantastic stuff
Congratulations to Lloyd, but well done to Jonny too - 31 aces (!!!) to 17 and a higher first serve percentage probably being the main difference for Lloyd.
As a long time fan of Jonny and a fan of Lloyd since last summer I think this is the right result. This has been a great week for Jonny and if he can stay fit this should be the start of something for him. Anyone who has watched the lad play for any length of time will know that there is some real natural talent there and he has always come across as a cracking young man. God knows what he has done to deserve the terrible run of injuries but it is most fervent hope that he can stay healthy and have a fair shot of making a career from tennis. As for Lloyd I think it was important for him to win this, his career is clearly going in the right direction but had he lost a third final in the space of a few weeks it would have raised a couple of questions. Runs like that need to be stopped before they become problematic.
Very good for Lloyd to get a title again and really pleased to see Jonny put such a week together, not dropping a set to players ranked in the 400 and 500s in the first 3 rounds, the 5-0 RET win over King in the SF and now so competitive against Lloyd. I have never seen him play but I take on good authority all that has been said about his ability and potential ( held back mainly by injuries ) but putting a week like this together proves quite a lot including to himself. Onward ...
