Obviously a bit disappointing, an off day compounded by a blister on her toe, just shows how much more difficult it is to beat a player on form, unlike yesterday.
From following the scores, the match started well enough for Laura for the first 20-25 minutes but once she was broken for 4-2 the match got away from her quite quickly.
Overall, progress made in this tournament with the win yesterday, and hopefully she can build on that next week.
The commentary from the Italian reporter (Giorgi was on after Laura) from Matchpoint magazine was telling:
"Laura has 2 problems: court is "too short" and net "too high"
Also: "Dodin leads 5-2. Coach on court for Robson but she doesn't look at him."
"3 DFs in a row and 2 winners This is the perfect picture of today Robson's game" - A symptom well recognised by the regular Laura supporters club!
"Dodin d. Robson 6-2 6-2 (with a good help from Laura.)"

Pesky inconveniences!
Johanna is using her new status as a top 100 doubles player this week, and gets a very tough draw. Depending on Fed Cup exertions though, both physical and emotional, Kiki/Caro may be pretty drained this week. So, perhaps a glimmer there. R1: Johanna KONTA/Laura SIEGEMUND (GBR/GER) 139 vs. Kristina MLADENOVIC.Caroline GARCÍA (FRA/FRA) [2] 23

She's always been a big crowd player, so I really hope that the FO will get her juices going. Then of course the grass court season with the home support. If Wimby doesn't get her going nothing will.
