Why on earth is Harriet wasting time with this? She doesn't match either of the usual criteria, i.e. her career isn't on the wane (quite the opposite) and she isn't a doubles specialist.

Doesn't the same apply to Jay?
I've always thought it's great that they play this event - it seems like the only chance many of them get to play fun team tennis at a top level. European league is OK but this has all the extra razzmatazz that the US does so well. I think it seems a blast, and a well paid one.
My thought was 'how 'interesting' that Jay and Harriet are playing in the same team'.....they seemed to get on really well at Wimbly in the mixed dubs - my gossip antennae are twitching....
World team tennis is the WWE of the tennis world. I am usually for innovation but the harlequin courts and the single set 5 game approach make this all about one thing. And that is fine, but lets not call it real competitive tennis.
Look forward to a thread on tie break tens or Fast Four in due course!
Harriet has a boyfriend (who isn't Jay).
As for why they would be playing rather than ranking tournaments-perhaps in Harriet's case, a chance to ease back into playing. Also the money. And yeah, it does seem fun.
WTT takes place over the 3 weeks after Wimbledon so I would hope Harriet will be well back into playing by then and more importantly I would have thought would be wanting to keep on playing normal competitive tennis, considering how little she has played early on this year.

Darn - my antennae are sorely malfunctioning (which doesn't surprise me in the least )
Tx, flamingowings.
However, I hope they all have a blast in the US, whatever.

Yes, it would - I don't know why I didn't see his name in the original post because it's very obvious now I read it again!

Not a doubles specialist, but she does absolutely love doubles and team events. It's well paid, it helps extend the network of contacts and will make funding ranking events easier later in the year. I bet she absolutely jumped at the chance.
After trading up for another 2nd Round pick, the Orange County Breakers have taken world #44 doubles standout Luke Bambridge in the 2019 WTT Draft! Welcome to the squad, Bambo! #GoBreakers
I only dip in and out of the world team tennis but, in the 16th July matches, if I've read it right, congrats to James Ward and Bambo, playing dubs together, who won an important match (James??? Doubles??? Really????)
Jonny O'Mara got pipped in his mixed doubles. Ken Skupski lost too. AS did Harriet Dart, to Flpkens.
I think Ken and Feli beat Luke & Wardy the previous night. Seems like there are more Brits involved every year. Even Judy is over there in a coaching capacity this year.
