Freya is already our #4 in the Road to Singapore list (albeit a distant 4th at #217; she'll rise a few notches after her R1 win; a few more with another win would've been nice)
yet again it's 2 steps forward, 2 steps back - there must be a fundamental reason why she can't string 2 good games together, especially as she keeps losing to easier opponents than the ones she beats
I see Freya is playing 50K qualifiers in Turkey next week and then back down to 10K in Crete, where she must be after a confidence booster and a way to get some cheap points. However when you look at the entries with the likes of Simmonds, Marcinkevica, Cabaj Awad, Liebens, Feuerstein and Wallace it may not be that easy.

I doubt Freya needs a confidence booster, she has been ticking along fairly nicely, though yes she might fancy hopefully a few more matches than she has been getting in 25Ks, not as you point out that that would necessarily come easy.
And she may feel that her current points distribution ( now has a full 16 rankings counters and nothing due off before August ), with just one double figure counter, her biggee 31 from Shrewsbury, and just two 1s, might slow her rankings progress, but that would really just be at the margins.
Probably won't do any harm, but I see no obvious thinking in the 10K. Maybe just suits her schedule.

I don't think confidence is at all an issue. And quite rightly. She's had a very good first few months to the year. One can always look and think it could have been better.
But she's gone from nothing, to success to 10ks, to now being an established proper 25k player (her result sheet is not truly stellar, yet, but it's been very consistent, not just one flukey tournament).
I'd guess she fancies sunshine in Crete, after Uzbekistan and without having to rely on April vaguaries in the midlands. Often players also go because they've got friends going too, or they know the club, or their coach knows the club, or whatever.
