Is there any chance that Alex could make French Open qualies?

He gets Jules Okala 1064, who beat the 7th seed because he retired.

top half opened up, if he wins here, he gets the winner of Q & WC.

It looks like WR 234 has the last direct entry last year.

The points total required would be around 225pts. Alex is provisionally around 167pts(according to Steven's table), so would need a really big run to get there.

As I suggested in a previous thread, I'd say not out the question, especially if he was to enter qualifying and if there looked a chance prepared to hang in there until the last minute for late withdrawals ( rather more practical than say for Australia ).

Another title this week would take Alex up 16 net points to 183 points, currently equivalent to WR 277, and as well as next week's Spanish future he would still have time to fit in say a challenger before 25/04 ( I understand the rankings that count towards the qualifier list are these of four weeks before the first Monday ).

Looks very unlikely to make the initial entrants list, but yes win this week and / or add some more decent points, hang in there and who knows ...

Would be great, especially given he is a Brit quite happy on the dirt.

Alex leads 5-4* in the 1st. No breaks so far.

Just a quick shout out too, for Alex's training partner Dan Dowson WR 1152 who has just taken out Frenchman and 4th seed Sakharov WR 272 to reach the SF. Well played Dan.

Alex lost the first set 5-7

Now 4-4

(and, yes, well done to Dan D - that must be his biggest result ever by miles - super).
