Looking good and a decent payday coming up - already picked up $3310 so far for singles, a doubles win would earn $1820 per team and 60pts and with the top seeds gone, the draw is open to progress further.
Naomi and Alicja considerably too good there
They earn another meeting with Knapp for Naomi, and Hev's friend, semi-honorary Brit (at least in my head) and Heatina stalwart, Erakovic, who beat the (albeit clay specialist) top seeds in R1.
R1: Naomi BROADY/Alicja ROSOLSKA (GBR/POL) 182 defeated Elena BOGDAN/Andreea MITU (ROU/ROU) 6-1 6-1
QF: Heather WATSON/Klaudia JANS-IGNACIK (GBR/POL) 223 lost to Stéphanie FORETZ/Amandine HESSE (FRA/FRA) 247 5-7 4-6
QF: Naomi BROADY/Alicja ROSOLSKA (GBR/POL) 182 vs. Marina ERAKOVIC/Karin KNAPP (NZL/ITA) 210
That's very probably a doubles CH for Naomi, taking out her February CH 114. Not the ideal way to get it with more injury woe for Karin, hope it not too bad. Two wins ( and a WTA title ) away from the doubles top 100.
Naomi's groundstrokes looking a bit weak compared to Parmentier today, who is pretty impressive with depth/coverage...managed to ace herself out of trouble a few times but not a third. 2-3*
Naomi is just so careless. Got herself broken because 3 times when she had game point, she missed a straight-forward shot when in control. Break point on Parmentier's serve, got a forehand cross-court completely wrong. Earlier there was a ridiculous point that ended with Naomi netting a smash and another astonishing miss in a later Broady service game. That's the difference between the players.
