Never heard of either of those guys so off to look at the federation data base.....
Baudry is 18, from Bretagne, ranked -2/6 (which is down one rank from -4/6 last year).
He's played 33 matches so far this sporting year (basically in money tournaments). Won 17, lost 16. Only three victories at a higher rank than himself.
Ed should win easily enough.
Guinard is a bit better (he's beaten Baudry twice this year). Ranked -4/6 (so one rank higher than Baudry). Age 20. Played 37 matches (won 25). Seven victories against higher ranked players. Lost to Marzi last autumn, and to Scott in January. But has had a few good wins since then.
Again, as the rankings say, Lloyd should win no problem. But Manuel is definitely the more difficult opponent.
Just been looking at the draw sheet for qualies and it says ZERO points for qualifying. Thought it might be a misprint so looked at the MD draw as well. That one says ZERO points OR money for winning the whole thing. Guessing my instincts about a misprint might be correct.
Evo is seeded 2 in the MD
L32: (2) Dan Evans WR 125 v Salvatore Caruso (ITA) WR 252 (CH 206 Sept 2014)
He's the second best ranked 16 year-old in the world (behind Shapovalov), and the third best for his age if you include (as of course you should) Felix AA, aged 15.
So he's obviously a big name and a big hope in France. (Hasn't played any juniors for the last year or so).
But has only made the finals of two 10ks. Hasn't really made his mark at a higher level (which is not a criticism, given his age, but just to say that Ed should be the slight favourite). A very dangerous youngster though.
Rémi is the other sort of player - solid, age 26, a decent career, but nothing spectacular. Hasn't played any pros for a while. Nor any domestic matches either. I believe he's been injured but don't quite know what. Again, I'd have thought that Lloyd was the slight favourite.
