Week 13 - Bahrain F1 ($10,000) - Manama (hard)

Well look who has popped up in Bahrain

QR1: Gregory Howe UNR v Salman Hassan (PAK) UNR  (Aged 39)

Just 2 qualifying rounds here, but unfortunately, for these two, the winner gets the Top Seed in the FQR

Gregory - age 44 - won ! 6-0 6-2

That showed that young whippersnapper (age 39)

However, he now gets Vigani - only age 19 ! Shouldn't be allowed. And ranked 1495.

Nice to see Mr Howe playing and winning. Occasional poster on here if my memory serves me well.

It does indeed. And I concur that it is nice to see him playing and winning.

Gregory Howe lost his next match, against the top Q seed, however, 4-6 1-6

Interestingly, Mohamend Abdel-Aziz (Donia's brother) is on livescore with a Union Jack next to his name. However, still Egypt in the actual printed draw. So I reckon the GBR is probably a misprint.

It's a weird one as Donia still represents GB, but her brother has represented Egypt for some time.

Spoke to Abdul aziz's coach, Islam jallali , who sometimes works with Jaziri. He is based in dubai. He is now playing under Egypt and will play for them in African nations junior team event. FYI.

Thanks for the info GH. And a very decent effort this week, if I may say so.

Thanks, gh. I assumed it was a misprint as Mohamed's been playing a lot of junior ITFs too, always for Egypt.

But always possible that he'll change one day, given his connections to the UK, so I sort of 'keep an eye' on him.

Good luck to him in the African junior Championships event.

Well done, Mr Howe. Now makes me feel less old at 56. Thanks
