It will be fascinating to see how Kyle's weapons match up against Djokovic. Great result today Vesely should be close to physical maturity where as Kyle still has some way to go, so really promising although I feel the challenge to Kyle being a consistent top 10 player through his career will come from his own contempoaries and the present crop of mainly North American 16-18 year olds
Just watched the clips of Kyle's post match press confidence (following on from Djokovic eating humble pie), again very impressed. He is becoming much more comfortable and with it able to articulate the fantastic attitude that has under pinned his development. I think we can reflect back on the wisdom of his schedule through 2013/14/15 and how it has facilitated his global development giving him a broad skill set, the capacity for self analysis and sustained improvement.
Generally I am quite ambivalent about the draws Kyle gets as I still don't see winning per sae as his objective and there is much to be gained from testing his game out against stronger players at any point, even a first round loss brings with it the opportunity for practice and improvement. I have no idea what Kyle and Andy have been upto since loosing early in Indian Wells but there are obvious up sides
That said come Paris I would really like to see a favorable draw pitching him up against qualifiers and Journeymen French wild cards, keeping his gunpowder dry. Very excited by his prospects there. I maybe getting into the realms of fantasy but who knows three British men in the second week at RG, Leicester winning the premiership? Stranger things have happened.
Great win yesterday for Kyle :D
This will be his first match against Nole presumably? Come what may it will be brilliant being able to share a matchcourt with the grandmaster :)
Aljaz looking highly strung as he smashes his racquet. Down 1-2* with three breaks opening the match.
Masterful serving display so far
Two holds of serve now!
Carballen Baena to serve for the set again *5-4
If Bedene can sort his head out then he can still win this in 2. I'm guessing this Spaniard doesn't play too much hard court tennis.
Aljaz is clearly the better player and his serve is usually pretty dependable, if he could just get it north of 50% on first serves he should take control of this match but I fear he is not in a good place emotionally right now.
Well up in the second set though. I've not seen any of the match, but from previous weeks, he just seems to switch off for periods of the game and then be able to turn it back on.
