The first round of the main draw in more detail:

L128:  Kyle Edmund WR 87 (CH = 82 last month) vs Jiri Vesely (CZE) WR 55 (CH = 35 last April)

The above match will be their first encounter at Tour level.

L128:  (WC) Roberto Carballes (ESP) WR 114 (CH = 106 last month) vs Aljaz Bedene WR 57 (CH = 45 last November)

Carballes beat Aljaz by 7-6(3) 2-6 7-6(5) on clay in the quarter-final of the Kenitra Challenger in 2014.

L128:  BYE vs (2) Andy Murray WR 2

For the record:

QR1: James Ward WR 182 (CH = 89 last July) defeated (q4) Yuichi Sugita  (JPN) WR 97 (= CH) by 3-6 6-0 6-3  biggrin

And it's the pesky "Frat boy" in the next round:

QR2:  James Ward WR 182 vs Bjorn Fratangelo (USA) WR 134 (CH = 106 last August)

Frat boy caused another upset, taking out the q18, ERV (WR 138/35 in November 2014), in three sets.  He & James have not played one another before.
