Week 12 - WTA Premier ($6.1M) - Miami, USA Hard

Doubles not going so well. Between Hev & Pica, they've got all the support though.
1-6

Well done, Heather

And won't do her any harm to close out another three setter when not playing at her best. She has generally been playing decent to very good all year, and can find better form again, but closing out matches and some three setters getting away was seemingly an issue.

Pity, but does save the diversion of a R2 meeting with Hingis & Mirza.

I'm looking forward to this match. No pressure on Hev, and the way the two are playing, a W is not out of the question.

Meanwhile, on paper I'm with Jo in her match, but Vesnina's no slouch and I have no clue how she's playing at the mo.

Lots of quick matches prior means JoKo has just arrived on court already.

Winner plays Niculescu, who easily dispatched Vandeweghe.

Quality stuff.
Jo held 1st game from *0-40
Jo serving well and needs to because Vesnina looks in very rich vein of form, really aggressive and fearless, every shot is probing for an opening.
3-2*

Consecutive DF to concede a break to love. 3-4*

Reality is, Jo did pretty well to get 4 games. Vesnina in some sort of magical place.
Could cut out some UE, and up the 1st serve %, but Jo played plenty of good stuff which Elena just swatted nonchalantly aside.
4-6

Not sure what's happened (reports please). But Jo's turned the second set round and leads 5-1 in it.
