So Laura lost, but was very competitive which is fine for the moment. Hopefully she can kick on and win some matches in the clay court events she has a PR for.
Obviously a very difficult day for the Belgian players and I hope at least they have been able to get in touch with their families back home and confirm their safety. Difficult news can affect players in very different ways, some would not be able to focus whereas others might find such events provide perspective and so don't get nervous over such a minor thing in comparison as winning a tennis match.
Nice start.
Saw off a BP in game 1, then took advantage of some poor dropshots from Cetkovska to break, and then held to 30 with an Ace.
Cetkovska could have periods where she channels her 2015 US Open form though where she reached third round dispatching Wozniacki, and almost beat eventual champion Pennetta ina a close third set. That opposed to last week in Indian Wells, where she was dispatched by Allertova, 0 & 1. If everything clicks, the Czech will be dangerous, she certainly always had the talent and the shots.
But not yet, as she serves an awful game, and gifts Heather another break.
*4-0
I never find it fun to watch a player as talented as Cetkovska this much all at sea and looking lost on court, even when it's our favourites who are the beneficiaries. It's a bit like watching Laura has been at times in her comebacks. Painful, and a bit sad; you know there's more there. But, Heather is playing well enough when she's actually being asked to, and is going very nicely along 1-6 *3-0 Edit: spelling

Agree it's sad; but there again Heather had her GF woe to get through so it's important she stays ruthless
Oh; another DF gift from Petra for another break
6-1, 5*-0
