Week 11 - Challenger ($100,000) - Jalisco Open, Guadalajara, Mexico (hard)

Well done, James. Sure, it wasn't 'great' tennis but he served well at key moments (despite a first serve percentage of only 50%), his movement and dynamism is always poor (hence poor returns) but that's life, and I thought he showed far more commitment to his shots, and intention in his game, unlike the James Ward we see all too often, with blank look, zombified, wandering around, doing Lord knows what.

Well done again.

L16:  James Ward WR 180 vs Alejandro González (COL) WR 145 (CH = 70 in June 2014)

González took out the seventh seed & his compatriot, Alejandro Falla, in three in the first round...

Sloppy service game from Dino with a couple of DFs and he may well gift the first set.

Dino redresses the balance (6-2 in the second) & takes the match into a decider.

Dino throwing this away. He was an early break up, but had a couple of shockers and is now a break down.

James lost the third set.

Not the best tennis, by any manner of means, although Gonzalez knuckled down well to the job in hand.

But still better than recent form.

Ironically I think James played better than he did in the first round.
