There speaks one who would know! Pity about that - but congratulations on the win.

Can't they put the prize money in some sort of bond and give it to him when he comes of age or something...? wink

Classic: Cam defeats Gio Lapentti in FQR. Lapentti gets in as a lucky loser and plays qualifier Jason Jung and wins.

Cam drawn against Gilles Muller.

Cam not being cut to shreds just yet:  he's just lost the first set by 4-6.

Not "mullered" in the second set, either, but

L32:  (WC/2) Gilles Müller (LUX) WR 45 defeated (Q) Cam Norrie WR 710 by 4 & 3 in a fraction over an hour & three minutes

pretty competitive but not aggressive enough , having said that not easy playing against top 50 player, had a couple of chances, and a couple of dodgy serve line calls in 7th game of second set that went against him when he had sniff of another break chance. good learning though and not disgraced. Need to keep in perspective Muller took Rafa to 6-4 in the third set less than a week ago

Great opportunity and exciting to hear Cam was competitive given the big step in class of opposition, really the level of competition you would expect in a 500 or 250. Interesting to see Jamie Delgardo is one of Mullers coaches and the big strides he has made over the last two years.

I can rember watching Kyle push him to three sets in one of his first challenger semi finals in Slovenia (or in my case Starbucks on 3rd and 52nd) and at that point Giles was very much a challenger player although top end. That in itself should be highly motivating that a player (an 83 er!) can make so much progress when physically mature around refinement of his game.

Jamie Delgado left Muller to go and coach Andy Murray.

Ok of course was Jamie Delgardo. My point is that he has been instrumental in Mullers improvement to his present rank.
