Bedene is defending his title and is seeded 4 and has drawn Dutra Silva(alt) from Brazil

Cam is now serving for the match.

Just noticed only 4 qualifying slots and Cam is seeded 5 and would have to beat the top seed Lapentti along the way

Is there a reason why Kyle is not playing this?

Some possibilities

1. He is 82 in the world so no need to play challengers if he doesn't want to.

2. He might not want to overplay ahead of the clay season when he will presumably play most weeks.

3. The courts here are very quick so not ideal for him (he made the SF last year but had a very nice draw)

Interesting personnel in the doubles:

R1: (3) Colin Fleming & Neal Skupski CR 144 (58+86) vs Philipp Petzschner & Mischa Zverev (GER/GER) CR 254 (40+214)

(& not just those four!)

Very interesting ... but did the GB team really need to be the ones to draw that particular banana skin?! Colin Fleming seems to have precious little good fortune in draws recently. Very much hope that they win, both this match and more.

I think the answer to that, Spectator, is a resounding "no", but what can you do? disbelief Colin's had it really hard in recent draws, so fingers crossed that he & Neal can make us believe we were worrying for nothing!
