Which he does comfortably to win 6-4 6-2

Now that is what I call making the most of an opportunity. Well played Ed. Terrific win.

Yes with one extra point - still won't put him in the top 500. Needs another win.

Now that's a pairing that will definitely get a wildcard for Tipton and one I would love to see get one at Wimbledon

I'd imagine they would have to have some pretty significant results as a pairing to get a Wimbledon wildcard...but plenty of time before then so who knows.

Maybe if Evo was to do well enough over the next 2 months to be a singles DA at Wimbledon that the powers that be would consider a double wild card justified.

Tomorrow, Dan will play either Ortego Olmedo (333) or Phil Bester (303). In terms of rankings, that is soft opposition for a challenger qf.  Also worth noting is that the top seed Yuchi Sugito  was knocked out, making Ed's path much easier. Ed will play either Sugito's conqueror Frank Dancevic (243)or Chilean qualifier Nic Jarry (491).
